Haaland Nets Stunning Treble in Dominant Display
Manchester City continued their impressive start to the Premier League season with a thumping 6-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening. Erling Haaland, who has taken the league by storm since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund, was once again the star of the show, netting a stunning hat-trick to send City to the top of the table.
Haaland opened the scoring just 12 minutes into the match, coolly slotting home a penalty after he was brought down in the box. The Norwegian then doubled his tally in the 23rd minute with a clinical finish from close range. Forest, who were making their return to the Premier League after 23 years, struggled to contain City's relentless attack and conceded again just before half-time when Joao Cancelo curled a superb shot into the top corner.
Haaland completed his hat-trick in the second half, pouncing on a loose ball in the box to fire home from point-blank range. Julian Alvarez and Riyad Mahrez added further goals for City, who were in total control from start to finish. The victory extended City's unbeaten start to the season to four matches, with Haaland now having scored six goals in that time. Forest, meanwhile, remain rooted to the bottom of the table with just one point from their opening four games.
