Ezekiel Elliott Returns To Dallas Cowboys

Ezekiel Elliott Returns to Dallas Cowboys

Deal Reached for Former Patriots Running Back

Slowing Yards-Per-Carry Average Raises Concerns

Ezekiel Elliott, the former first-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys, is back with the team after a brief stint with the New England Patriots. The 29-year-old running back, who turns 30 in July, had a career-low 35 yards per carry (YPC) in 2023 while with the Patriots, finishing with 642 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 184 carries.

Elliott's return to Dallas comes after a one-season experiment in New England, where he recorded 184 carries for 642 yards and three touchdowns. His YPC average has declined steadily throughout his career, from 51 as a rookie in 2016 to 35 in 2023. Despite these concerns, the Cowboys have agreed to terms on a contract with Elliott, indicating their willingness to give him another chance in Dallas.
