Judge Stays Hot With 4 Hits
Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees squared off against Jack Flaherty and the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday night in a battle of two of the MLB's most feared sluggers.
Judge entered the game leading the majors with 25 home runs, while Flaherty was 4-0 with a 1.35 ERA in six starts this season.
Judge got the best of Flaherty in the first inning, hitting a solo home run to give the Yankees an early 1-0 lead.
Cardinals Answer Back
The Cardinals answered back in the bottom of the inning when Paul Goldschmidt hit a two-run homer off Yankees starter Jameson Taillon.
The Cardinals added another run in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Tyler O'Neill.
Flaherty settled down after the first inning and pitched six strong innings, allowing just one more run on a solo homer by DJ LeMahieu in the fourth inning.
Judge Ties it Up
Judge tied the game in the seventh inning with his second home run of the night, a solo shot off Cardinals reliever Giovanny Gallegos.
The game remained tied until the ninth inning when Gleyber Torres hit a two-run homer off Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley to give the Yankees a 5-3 lead.
Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn his 10th save of the season.
Judge Extends Hitting Streak
Judge's two home runs extended his hitting streak to 13 games.
He is now batting .325 with 27 home runs and 60 RBIs this season.
The Yankees improved to 33-17 with the win, while the Cardinals fell to 28-22.
